The Art of Pride Makeup at Glisten Cosmetics

Pride has always meant more than colour alone. It is visibility, self-expression, community, defiance, joy, and the right to exist openly and safely as yourself. Makeup can be playful, beautiful, and artistic, but during Pride it can also become something more: a declaration, a celebration, a refusal to be dimmed.

At Glisten Cosmetics, celebrating Pride Month is not something we approach as a momentary campaign or a passing seasonal theme, it is part of who we are. We have always been, and will always be, a committed ally to the LGBTQ+ community, and supporting that community in tangible, meaningful ways remains deeply important to us.

Since 2017, we have raised £86,400 for LGBTQ+ charities, helping support organisations that do life-changing work for people across the community. These include Not a Phase — who our current Pride Liner profits are going to — as well as Gendered Intelligence, Sahir, All Out, and several more. For us, this is about more than fundraising alone. It is about contributing, in whatever way we can, to organisations that provide support, advocacy, resources, safety, and hope for LGBTQ+ people whose lives are too often shaped by exclusion, discrimination, or silence.

That matters to us enormously. Beauty should never exist in a vacuum. If we are going to celebrate colour, identity, freedom, and individuality, then we also believe in supporting the people and organisations working to protect those things in real life.

Of course, artistry is still at the heart of it all. Pride makeup has always been one of the most joyful forms of beauty expression: unapologetic, inventive, bright, personal. It is a space where colour is not just decorative, but symbolic. A line of pigment can carry identity. A palette can hold recognition. A look can become a language all of its own.

That is why our Pride collection means so much to us. Alongside our Pride Liner inspired by the main LGBTQ+ flag, we also have a range of palettes celebrating different identities and communities, including Agender, Aromantic, Bigender, Pansexual, and Transgender flags — and more besides. We wanted to create products that felt celebratory, affirming, and expansive; products that allow people to create looks that feel personal to them, or to someone they love, or to the community they stand beside.

Pride makeup is an art form in its own right. It is bold when it wants to be bold. Soft when it wants to be soft. Graphic, glittering, delicate, loud, tender, rebellious, euphoric. There is no single correct way to wear it, just as there is no single correct way to be yourself. That is part of what makes it so powerful. The beauty of Pride makeup is not perfection, but expression. It is the freedom to be seen exactly as you are — or exactly as you want to become.

And that, ultimately, is what we always want Glisten to be part of: not just the surface of beauty, but its feeling. Its emotion. Its possibility. The sense that makeup can be a tool for play, for confidence, for identity, for joy.

So this Pride Month, and every month after it, we want to say thank you. Thank you to the LGBTQ+ community for its creativity, courage, brilliance, and endless reinvention of what beauty, love, and selfhood can look like. Thank you to the charities and organisations doing vital work every day. And thank you to everyone who chooses to support our Pride products, helping us give back in ways that matter.

From all of us at Glisten Cosmetics: love will always be love, in every form it takes, across every gender, every identity, every expression of self. Joy is an act of resistance, and so is visibility, and so is creating something beautiful in a world that too often asks people to make themselves smaller. We hope our Pride Liners and palettes give you the space to unleash your artistry, celebrate who you are, and wear your colours with pride.

Love, Glisten x
